Inspiration

I was inspired by functional products. I made products out of recycled materials, such as tyres, off cuts of a cupboard. The product is functional and recycled but still beautiful in many ways.

The relation between t-shirt and knits

There is a cohesive story between the t-shirt and the knitted product. On the T-shirt I printed an image of tyre and with my knitted product I used a tyre as a base of my foot stool.

Triple bottom line - Planet, People and profit

Profit     : I will be making a good profit and this is due to me keeping my expenses low by, recycling, re-using and making my product myself.

People  : I will be helping people all around the world little by little, because by saving the environment I am saving generations to come and hopefully they continue recycling and sustain the planet and save people for more generations to come.

Effects of bleach

Bleaching also impacts on the fibre structure and in that way reduces the lifetimes of textiles. Hence textile service companies naturally will be very concerned to not over-use bleaching. But to cure a bleached product you just need to soak it in vinegar.

Cotton

Use of cotton: cotton is excellent for many purposes. Cotton fabrics are characterized by good wearing qualities, durability, good elasticity and flexibility and good heat resistance. Cotton has some disadvantages such as low wrinkle recovery and shrinkage.

Natural Fibers

Natural fibers are defined as those occurring in fibre form nature.

E.g. Animal fibres such as wool or silk or cellulosic fibers such as cotton or ramie.

Reflection

While doing this product I learnt a lot of things. Looking back now I learnt how to work with deadlines. I learnt how to make and sell a product. I learnt the importance of brainstorming and how to explore and select a product. I also learnt how to link and relate my product with my bleached died t-shirt, which I accomplished by using a tyre as the base and that relates to the tyre on my t-shirt.

Working towards a deadline has taught me to manage my time more effectively. In the process of making and selling my product I needed to look at and choose an assignment that I thought to be a good seller, unique yet relevant to the market out there. In linking my product to my t-shirt I learn how to relate two or more items together and to find the relation between them.
